ROANOKE NEWS REPORTER KILLED LIVE ON TV
Very disturbing and sobering news this morning to report from Roanoke, Va. A gunmen has fatally shot and killed a local tv reporter and her photographer live on the air while the reporter was doing an interview. The slain reporter was 24 year old Alison Parker. The slain photographer was 27 year old Adam Ward. Both of the slain were from the Roanoke area and went to Virginia schools and colleges.
Interesting Fact: Speaking of local colleges. This shooting took place about 45 minutes away from Va. Tech where in 2007 32 people were shot and killed by a deranged disgruntled student gunmen . Video Photographer Adam Ward graduated from Va. Tech in 2011. No word on whether or not he was actually at Va. Tech when the shooting actually happened.
The shooting happened around 6:45 am this morning in a neighboring city Moneta. Parker of WDBJ in Roanoke an affiliate of CBS was interviewing Vickie Gardner the director of the Chamber of Commerce of Smith Mountain Lake Regional about tourism in the area when suddenly shots rang out. The shots reportedly hit the Adam Ward first. Parker and Ward were fatally shot.
Mary Ellen O’toole former fbi criminal profiler says the shooter later identified as 41 year old Vester Lee Flanagan said to be an disgruntled former employee of WDBJ is likely looking for a showdown with the police that will either end in his death by police fire or self inflicted lethal force. Flanagan is currently being pursued by Va State police, local police and ATF agents. So be alert and on the lookout. Flanagan is armed and dangerous.
The suspected shooter Vester Lee Flanagan is now known to be in critical condition in the hospital after a run in with the police.
